Petrčane

Petrčane is a picturesque place between Zadar and Nin, old Croatian towns. By its geographical position it is suitable for visiting the islands of the Zadar Archipelago and The Kornati National Park. If you wish an active vacation Petrčane offers you various sports and recreation facilities. Beaches: concrete, pebble, with sandy areas in the water.

The original settlement was founded in the 10th century, while in the Middle Ages this area was the property of St. Chrysogonus and Plato monastery from Zadar. A former church of St. Bartul (12th – 13th century) situated on the coast, featuring Romanesque characteristics and a massive belfry above the façade, is well preserved. It was later rebuilt into a residence building, while the remnants of murals are still visible on the walls.

The parish church of Our Lady of the Rosary (“Gospa od ruzarija”) with a low tower from the 18th century is also surrounded by new family dwellings owned by local people.
